Family Journals

What are Family Journals?

Family Journals are communication tools between parents and children. We write in them weekly and send them home for you to respond.  At the beginning of the year simple pictures may be all your child is able to do--but there is a story behind it. Have your child tell it to you. By the end of the year, your child will be able to write messages.

What is the Parent's Role?

Your role is to help facilitate their learning. Designate a special place for Family Journal time. Have your child share and write a note back to be shared during Share & Tell time. Don't worry if your child can't read yet. I'll help! It will help your child gain confidence, a sense of belonging and oral communication skills in the classroom.
